Founded in 1994 by a group of teachers and parents, the Amelia Park Museum contains a range of exhibits and hands-on activities for children to learn through the arts, history, science, and the region's rich environmental and cultural diversity. Exhibition themes include a STEM Center, a Dinosaur Dig, Outer Space, a Construction Zone, a Wellness Center, Amelia's Cafe, a Grocery Store, as well as a toddler area and library. The front doors of the Museum are equipped with push-button openers to accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Sensory bags, equipped with noise-cancelling headphones, sunglasses, a facility map, and stim toys are available to borrow at the front desk. You may request one free of charge at any time during your visit. Hours may vary depending on the season—please check the website for details.

Located in East Windsor, CT, the Connecticut Trolley Museum has over 70 pieces of rail equipment dating back to 1869. The collection includes passenger and freight trolley cars, interurban cars, elevated railway cars, passenger and freight railroad cars, service cars, locomotives, and other equipment. Admission includes a 3-mile round-trip ride through the countryside with a trolley operator in period uniform. For younger visitors there are craft tables, Legos, photo cutouts, a play trolley, dress-up Trolley Operator and Fire Fighter costumes, and a real, full-sized caboose for exploring. Hancock Shaker Village is a living history museum which celebrates the history and legacy of the Shakers, a religious group that lived communally and promoted values of equality and pacificism. This site, on the National Register of Historic Places, was active until 1960. The grounds consist of 20 historic buildings and a working farm and garden, surrounded by 750 acres of pasture, woods and hiking trails. Of particular interest are the Round Stone Barn (1826), the Brick Building that served as a dormitory (1830), and the Museum which houses permanent and changing exhibitions. Staff demonstrate traditional Shaker trade crafts on a rotating schedule in various locations. There is a café and gift shop on the premises. The New England Air Museum, located next to the Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT, is the largest aviation museum in New England. The museum houses over 80 aircraft in three large hangars and an outdoor display area, as well as an extensive collection of engines, instruments, aircraft parts, uniforms and personal memorabilia. Important historical aircraft in their holdings include the Sikorsky VS-44A, the Goodyear ZNPK-28 Blimp Control Car, and the Silas Brooks balloon basket. The museum, a part of the Boston National Historical Park, is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard near the ship USS Constitution (“Old Ironsides”) at the end of Boston's Freedom Trail. The museum provides a detailed look at the history of the ship, information about the war of 1812, and the battle between the ship and HMS Java. Stories are told through interactive exhibits, unique artifacts, archival records, and artwork.
